Beginners Guide: Las Vegas Travel Guide
Where to stay in Vegas?
First of all, you need to decide where the ideal location is to stay in Vegas. This will depend on what you are looking to do. If you are looking to bar hop and go to pool parties, stay on the strip. It will be much easier and safer to hop around on the strip. There are Ubers/Taxi’s all hours of the day and night. If you are close enough, you could even walk to your destination. If you are looking to go to a particular club or pool party several times, consider staying at that hotel to save time and money. In addition, there are plenty of restaurants right along the strip. Most people do not leave the strip the entire time they are in Vegas. Be careful if you choose to veer off because some of the surrounding area is not the safest if you are walking around.
Popular Hotels in Vegas:
- Encore at the Wynn
- Bellagio Las Vegas
- The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
- Aria Resort & Hotel
- The Venetian Resort Las Vegas
- The Palazzo at The Venetian
- Caesars Palace

1. Pool Parties
Next up is Vegas is known for their wild pool parties. While some pool parties tend to get more wild than others, this is the perfect way to start that long weekend. Keep in mind a lot of pool parties you need to buy tickets in advance. This is especially important if they are having a special/famous DJ and/or it is peak travel season. If you have never been to a beach club or pool party, people literally wear bathing suits with sometimes a cover up. Ladies, this is where you will wear those sexy heels with your bathing suit out and about. Yes, people do this in real life. 😀
- Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub at The Cromwell: Drai’s lives up to it’s hyper. It is arguable the most sought after and crowded pool party there is. If you are looking to get champagne poured into your mouth and all over you from the stage, this is your place. A lot of fun is at Drai’s and it is a great place to kick-off that bachelorette party weekend. The bachelor/bachelorette parties tend to get a lot of attention so be sure to wear your bride attire. Let’s be serious, who doesn’t love free drinks?! Some of the best DJ’s are at the pool parties and they know how to keep everyone dancing and having a fun time.
- Encore Beachclub at the Wynn: Marshmello, Dillon Francis, and The Chainsmokers are some artists you will see at the Encore Beachclub (at the time of this post). This place is huge with two stories where you could lay out in cabanas or get closer to the DJ/music.
- Marquee Dayclub at the Cosmopolitan: The coolest part about this pool party is that it is all year round. They have an overhead for when the weather gets cooler so you will still get that outside atmosphere but stay cozy. Always a fun time here. Definitely check them out.
2. Vegas Nightclubs
Second is nightclubs. Vegas is known for having one of the best party scenes in the country, maybe even world. If you are looking for some fun at night, check out some of these clubs below. Keep in mind the artists listed below are at the time of this post was published and subject to change. Also, some nightclubs have a stricter dress code than you might be used to. Be sure to check out the clubs website for additional details.
- XS Nightclub at the Wynn: If you are looking to party all night with some great music, this is your spot. Diplo, The Chainsmokers, DJ Vice, and other talented artists perform here. The Chainsmokers are seriously amazing live. They will sing/DJ to all your favorites. Check out the dates to ensure you book ahead of time and see your favorite DJ. Keep in mind that tickets could get sold out months in advance depending on the artist. Reserve your spot as soon as you know your dates/itinerary.
- Marquee Nightclub: Are you noticing the theme yet? Some of the best day pool parties/clubs, also turn into the most fun/lively nightclubs. Lucky for you, you will not get lost when you grab dinner since you will tend to go to the same places. So change into clubbing clothes and head back to your favorite hotel for the nightclub.
- Drai’s Nightclub: If you love Hip Hop, this is the nightclub to check out. It is always lively day or night and you will not be disappointed by the crowd. This club always has some of the most popular DJ’s/artists out there to keep you entertained.
3. Restaurants
Las Vegas is known to have some of the most delicious restaurants. There are world renown chefs that cook and own these restaurants. A list is below of some recommendations. The Vegas strip is filled with restaurants. In addition, there are some restaurants inside every hotel.
- Vanderpump Cocktail Garden: OMG. What a gorgeous restaurant. You will literally feel like you stepped into a chic garden. This is located inside Caesars Palace. The food and drinks are delicious. This is a place to go for a couple drinks before you start your night and some appetizers. It tends to get crowded so plan your night accordingly.
- Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina: This is a recommendation not on the strip. However, this restaurant has the best fajitas and nachos you will ever have. Also, the margaritas are huge and delish! This is somewhere you need to check out if you are planning on leaving the strip for shopping or something else. Again, be careful leaving the strip. 🙂
- Bouchon at The Venetian: If you are in the mood for French food and want to go out to an upscale restaurant, this is your place. For an elegant dining experience with incredible food, be sure to check this place out.
- Yardbird Table & Bar: Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese, and unique cocktails. If any of this appeals to you, be sure to check out this awesome restaurant. Inspired by southern cuisine, this restaurant has it all. They also have brunch if you are looking for a great brunch spot!
4. Day Trips
If you are feeling up for it after your days of partying (or maybe try this day 2 before the partying starts? 😉 ), there are some amazing sites that are a few hours away.
- Hoover Dam: You might be thinking, How far is the Hoover Dam from Las Vegas Strip? The Hoover Dam is only about 30 minutes or so drive outside of Las Vegas if you are staying on the strip. Take advantage of this if you are never or are rarely in the Nevada area. The Hoover Dam sits at the border between Nevada and Arizona. To walk around and see the site, snap some pictures, you could slot for an hour. Totally worth it!
- Grand Canyon: This is more of a drive than the Hoover Dam; however, beyond worth it if you have the time. It takes about 4 hours to get to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas Strip. If you have an extra day or even two, go see the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is something you need to experience in person. Pictures truly do not do justice. If there is a rainy day in your travels, try to go. You might catch some gorgeous rainbows surrounding the Grand Canyon area.

5. Shows
If you are looking for the best shows in Vegas, Vegas has it all. Whether you are looking for a concert, Broadway show, or something to hype up your girls, Vegas has it all.
- Magic Mike Live: This show is so much fun as it is a strip tease but you do not see everything. The men will even go off stage and give lap dances. The atmosphere is fun and it is a happy medium if you are nervous about going to an actual strip club.
- Chippendales: This show is famous for a reason. They put on a great show and the actors are entertaining and fun. Same as above, this is something fun if you are not looking to go to a full out strip club.
- Cirque Du Soleil: Amazing show and you will not be disappointed. This is something you have to check out while looking for a show to see in Vegas. The website linked will tell you the various shows/showtimes. Book in advance as these shows are very popular. They have many different shows now and something for everyone. Be sure to check out their website for the most up to date information on the performances.
- Singers: This varies but some big name artists have residencies in Las Vegas and perform all year round or seasonally. Be sure to look up who is performing when you plan your trip.
For the Gambler: Casinos are everywhere around Vegas. Every hotel has a casino inside so take your pick!
Las Vegas has a lot to do. You will never be bored because this is basically a city that does not sleep. Between the restaurants, shows, pool parties and hot men in theaters, you will surely have the best time.
