This post is giving you perks that only Platinum Delta credit card holders receive and what to expect with your Delta Platinum American Express credit card. After reading this post, you will be able to decide if the Platinum Delta credit card is right for you.
This post is all about Delta Credit card benefits.
The Delta American Express credit card has amazing benefits if you travel often and are utilizing the card. I’ve had three different tiers of the credit card, The Blue SkyMiles, Gold, and Platinum.
*Note: Cards that are available and benefits are subject to change. Visit the Delta website for most up to date information.

Which card is right for me?
The Blue SkyMiles card is perfect if you are traveling occasionally and want some added benefits. You are able to get to that silver medallion level which allows for some free upgrades, if available. While it is harder to get to that status with that card, it is perfect if you are going on 1-2 smaller vacations per year.
Once I became a frequent traveler, I upgraded to the Delta Gold credit card. This card is perfect if you are dipping your feet in becoming a frequent traveler. You might want some more benefits to see what all the hype is about. There is an annual fee of $150 (at the time of this post). HOWEVER, if you are checking a bag for trips, the first bag is free!! A major perk is that you could add up to 8 passengers for that perk for a reservation. Even one vacation for a family of five makes this card well worth the annual fee.
These are the best benefits from personal experience with the Delta Platinum credit card at the time of this post. There are many more benefits that you could receive from getting this Delta credit card. For additional details on Delta American Express credit cards, check out the Delta website.
I am not affiliated with Delta. I am a lover of travel and love the perks that this credit card has to offer. 🙂
Platinum:
To be honest, someone convinced me of the platinum card. I love hearing about a personal experience and that is usually what sells me. Hence this post. 🙂 It is always nice to hear how much someone loves a product or service especially when they do not gain a thing by raving about it. I am one of those people that is very weary of annual fees unless I KNOW it will be well worth it. Why pay an annual fee for benefits when I could not pay one and save money, right? That is where I was very wrong. If the benefits far out weigh the cost, then the fee is worth it! You only live once. Why not get free flights and upgrades.
Keep in mind these annual fees are only worth it if you will utilize the benefits.
Upgrades:
A major selling point for me was the free upgrades for Platinum card holders and silver medallion members. Platinum card members receive a boost annually to get to silver medallion status. Who doesn’t love free upgrades? With the free upgrades, there are better seats and sometimes free drinks and more snacks.
Since upgrading to this card, on average, every other flight I will get upgraded. And yes, that includes the person that is flying with me, if they are on the same reservation. No need to leave your boyfriend in main cabin while you enjoy the perks of first class. Although no one would blame you. 😉
Also, if you get to a higher medallion status, you will move to higher priority on the free upgrades list. How you get a high medallion status is by utilizing that card for everyday purchases and traveling more. The more you utilize this card for travel, the more miles and MQD’s you will accumulate.
Depending on your status, you will find out about your upgrade hours or days before your flight.
Miles Accumulation:
I literally utilize the Delta Platinum credit card for almost everything. However, make sure you are one that pays off your credit card in full each month. The benefits will not be worth it if you are paying hundreds of interest each month. The Platinum card, you will accumulate miles super fast. You will blind and gain 10k miles if you are traveling often.
Free Flights:
Arguably the benefit you all are dying to know about. Free flights!!
Question: How many free flights do you get with utilizing this card?
Answer: Depends on how much you are using it. But can be a lot. For example: If you are utilizing the card for around $5,000 a month. You could easily get 3 free domestic flights a year. This is dependent on the destination and when you are traveling. Keep in mind that peak travel destinations and travel times will typically require more miles.
Real life personal example:
On average if I am putting $4,000/per month expenses on this card, I have utilized my miles to go to Ohio and Florida to visit family. When I say free flights, you still pay taxes and small fees. However, these fees added up to $12 per round trip flight. Can’t complain about that price!
At the time of this post, is it March and those are only two of the flights that are already booked. I looked up a flight from New York to London in the winter and the miles will cover! That is a round trip international flight! Again – keep in mind you will be required to pay government taxes/fees, etc. Still, beyond worth it.
TSA precheck:
For years everyone was saying, get TSA precheck, it is so worth it. Not sure why it took me so long to look into. What everyone is saying really is true. TSA precheck is so worth it. Not only will it cut your TSA time in half, but you also no longer need to take laptops out of your bag, shoes, etc. You place everything on the conveyer belt, and walk right through. Once you go TSA precheck, you will never go back. There is a reason there are so many reels, TikTok’s, and social media posts about leaving your friend to go to the TSA precheck line.
Yes, this is included with the Delta Platinum credit card! You simply find a location that does TSA precheck. You will pay out of pocket, and get reimbursed automatically if you buy with your Delta Platinum credit card. This is depending on the cost of the place you go to. From personal experience, mine was covered by Delta 100%. No more waiting on that long TSA line as the TSA precheck line moves quickly. Sometimes there is no line at all!
Priority Boarding:
Priority boarding is included with the Platinum card! If you are one that loves to get settled and ensure your luggage is right above you in the overhead bin, you are in luck by upgrading your card or applying for the Platinum.
Free Checked Bags:
This was touched on earlier. But some flights (international), you will get TWO free checked bags. Ladies, if you are an over packer or you are going away for weeks, this saves so much money. When you add up the fees associated with paying for checked bags, you will jump at this card. Free checked bags goes a long way with the price of flying.
Everyone has different travel needs and wants. However, if you are looking to get free upgrades, free flights, and free TSA precheck, the Delta credit card benefits are well worth it. Look into which card is best for you. If you are a skeptic and wanted to hear a personal experience, hopefully this post helped you.
