Travel Guide: Best London Travel Guide
1. London Bridge
First must see place in London to visit is the infamous London Bridge. I mean there is a nursery rhyme after the bridge, so it is a must. The London Bridge could be a half day as it is something to walk on and appreciate/take those social media worth pictures. After that I would recommend having a nice lunch nearby or finding somewhere to eat as you are strolling around the gorgeous city of London. If your trip slightly or mostly revolves around food, don’t worry, the food recommendations we will get to later in this post.
2. Big Ben
Secondly, the Big Ben is another must see site to add to your London travel guide. Big Ben is a clock tower that overlooks the city of Westminster. I highly recommend walking around that city to look at the churches in that area. The churches have intricate details and are breathtaking to look at.
3. High Tea
For the best London experience, GO TO HIGH TEA. The British are known to be tea drinkers and the tea there did not disappoint. Beware that some places for high tea do have a dress code. Please be prepared as they are strict with the code and you do not want to miss out on an upscale high tea! Some restaurants and hotels offer high tea and the scenery is beautiful and upscale. Keep in mind even though high tea is popular it is not offered at every hotel or restaurant. Even if you are not a tea drinker, some places offer various beverages, and you could enjoy the food!
Recommendation for high tea:
The Rubens at the Palace in Westminster:
The Palace Lounge is a restaurant inside the hotel that offers several afternoon tea packages. There are a variety of packages and I chose the Bottomless Afternoon Tea Package. This package at the time included Champagne for 1.5 hours, a selection of tea, selection of cakes, pastries, scones, and finger sandwiches. For this particular restaurant, the dress code is “smart casual” which means they do not allow flip-flops, sportswear, etc. I would check the website for an updated dress code and packages.

Restaurant recommendations:
The Delaunay:
If you are looking for an upscale restaurant, this is your place. The breakfast and lunch are delicious here. You will feel like royalty the minute you step foot into this restaurant. The restaurant does an amazing job of making each guest feel welcome and special. The food and service are superior, highly recommend!
The Breakfast Club:
If you are looking for that classic London breakfast with sausage, pancakes, eggs, and side of tomato, this is your place. This restaurant had more of a local feel and was casual if you are looking for a laid-back breakfast experience. The food and service are perfect, you will not be disappointed. For brunch lovers, they have a weekend brunch menu!

Daisy Green Food (Timmy Green location in Victoria):
This Australian restaurant has many locations around London, and the food was phenomenal. If you are looking for a relaxing but fun dinner location with a cocktail, this is the restaurant for you. They offer a variety of drinks with that laid-back atmosphere. You will see locals that sit at the bar after a long work day for a few hours (they seemed to know the bartenders). There are also people that pop in for a quick bite to eat. Food recommendation: The Aussie BBQ meat board was cooked to perfection. The meat has a smokey flavor to it and was very tender. It was a plate to share (generous portions), and I guarantee you will lick your plate clean. Highly recommend if you go to this restaurant. In addition, they have vegetarian and pescatarian options too.

Après Food – Organic Food for Body and Mind in Clerkenwell:
For those that are gluten-free and/or love healthy organic food, this café is your place. If you are a pancake lover, order the pancakes and sausage. The syrup that went with the pancakes was the best. The syrup is not sugary and tastes very fresh. The restaurant cooks with the freshest ingredients and you will taste the difference. Also, you can feel guilt free after having a meal here. Additionally, the town is a quiet area and a great spot to check out more local restaurants/bars or walk around the neighborhood. They do not currently have a website at the time of this post.
4. St. James Park
If you are looking for a stroll, morning run, and/or are a dog lover, go to St. James Park. St. James Park can be planned while going to Buckingham Palace as it is right beside it. It is the perfect detour either before or after your visit to the palace. If you love a nature walk wherever you go, check out this park. In addition, it is peaceful and the landscaping is well taken care of. You will not regret seeing these views alongside the palace.
5. The National Gallery
The National Gallery Museum will walk you through the history of London. You will see art by world famous artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci. Also, the museum is not overwhelming, you could spend half a day there and walk around the different rooms they have. If you have an appreciation for art or enjoy learning about history, this museum is perfect.
6. The West End
The West End is the theater district in London. This place literally lights up at night and there are many shows to choose from. It is a nice area to add to your list at night as buildings have colorful lights which gives the child-like feeling of excitement before seeing an anticipated show. There are bars around that area if you wanted to grab a drink before or after a show. I highly recommend the musical by Patricia Resnick 9 to 5 with music written by Dolly Parton. I am sure there are many amazing shows to choose from but just a recommendation for those Dolly Parton fans.
7. Westminster Abby
Next on the list is the Westminster Abby is a church located in Westminster. It is famously known as the place of royal weddings, burials, and events. The entire site is truly stunning with many details throughout the Abby. You will find many years of history with statues of intricate details. As you walk through you will see memorials with some statues dedicated to royals that have passed. It is an excellent place to learn more about London history. All of the churches in the UK are beautiful but this one is special. Many are open to the public long hours or even 24/7. The history all wrapped up into this Abby is somewhere you do not want to miss.
8. Notting Hill
Yes, this is the same place that inspired the movie, Notting Hill starring Julia Roberts. Confession time (judgment free zone please), I watched the movie for the first time after my first London visit. I had heard of the movie but after seeing this town, I had to watch the movie to compare. This town is beyond beautiful and adorable. If you are looking to explore less touristy towns, this is your place. In addition, it tends to not be as crowded as Westminster and cities with the landmarks. Notting Hill is a great town to take an evening stroll, have a candlelight dinner, and admire the buildings.
9. Buckingham Palace
Finally, I saved the best and arguably the most popular place for last. You cannot go to London without visiting the palace. Buckingham Palace is breathtaking in person. Also, the gates surrounding the Palace are gold plated! You will truly feel like you are close to royalty once you are a couple blocks away. We all deserve the royal treatment from time to time (or on a daily, am I right?)
However, something to note: If there is any type of event, the surrounding area will be flooded with police and overcrowded. I would do research when you are planning your trip to find the best day and avoid peak hours. No matter what time you go it will be slightly crowded, but to snatch that social media worth shot, try early morning/evening.😊
London is a beautiful city with something for everyone. If you are looking for a great day and night life, you will truly enjoy London. Happy and safe travels!
